Danny O’Brien takes a whistle-stop tour of our privacy laws, the current status of surveillance, and how the best chance of protecting privacy in a digital age might just lie in the BOFH.

Danny O’Brien is activism co-ordinator for the Electronic Frontier Foundation. He also writes the “Life Hacks” column for MAKE magazine, and continues to edit Need To Know, Britain’s most sarcastic geek newsletter since 1997. He has written and presented science and travel shows for the BBC, and performed a solo show about the Net in the London’s West End.

  • Electing the board
    • Election structure. Members vote for positions? Members vote for board members and the board votes who takes the various positions?
    • Board count (3? 4? 5? formula based on roster count?)

    • How much of the board to elect at once? whole board every time? half the board to keep some continuity?

Still working on the details, but here’s a bit of info:

Drupal is a free software package that allows an individual or a community of users to easily publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a website. AKA, an “open source content management system.” Tens of thousands of people and organizations have used Drupal to power web sites, including SoCoSA.org. It works on a variety of platforms including Unix and Windows.

Steven is the Drupal project’s Documentation Team Lead, one of the leaders of the Drupal Association, a user of Drupal since 2003, and a fellow System Administrator.

Steven will cover such topics as:

  • What Drupal is and why you might want to use it.
  • Setting up a Drupal site
  • Administration
  • Upgrading
  • installing modules
  • Picking the right modules so that upgrading or migrating are easy
  • theming your drupal site
  • letting your users create and edit content
